Sport touring bikes are known for their capability of being able to carry enough luggage for a trip and be comfortable on the road at the same time.  These motorcycles are also bigger in terms of the seat height, weight and width.  While you want to find a bike that is the most comfortable for you, I also recommend one that is easy to control as well.

Honda Goldwing

One of the best sport touring bikes on the market is the Honda Goldwing.  Starting at just over $23,000 this motorcycle will take you anywhere you want to go.  This model comes with a 1832cc liquid cooled, horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine that includes a five speed transmission including overdrive and an electric reverse.  The weight of the bike is between 904 and 933 pounds depending on included options.  It comes in candy red, pearl white, ultra blue metallic and black.  Some of the cool innovations include an airbag, heated grips and seat, XM satellite, anti-lock brakes and a connection for your iPod.

BMW F800ST

sThe BMW F 800ST is also a great sport touring bike built for both men and women.  This bike will take you across town or across the country.  The sitting position on this bike is unique, that it is more of a true sport bike than sitting upright.  In addition, it is very compact and light while being nimble at the same time.  It retails for approximately $11,000 and comes with a two-cylinder in line engine with 80bhp.  There is a toothed belt drive along with a chassis that will hug the road.

BMW R1200RT

BMW also makes another great sport touring bike in the BMW R1200RT.  This bike was first introduced in 2005 and features a 1170cc, flat-twin, 8-valve, air cooled engine.  In addition, there is also a six speed transmission to give you plenty of power.  This bike also comes with a heated seat, lower seat, cruise control, heated grips, and electronic adjustable suspension.  This bike is so good that it has twice been named Best Touring Bike by two American monthly magazines and has been called “brilliant” by riders.

Yamaha FJR1300

Another great sport touring bike is from Yamaha.  The Yamaha FJR 1300 lists for just under $13,000 and is one of the best bikes out there for the value.  This bike comes with a 1298cc, liquid cooled, in-line, four-cylinder engine that delivers both power and torque.  It addition, there are plenty of extras on this bike including a glove box with a 12V outlet for phones, GPS units, and electric vests.  There is also a standard toolkit on board under the passenger seat should you ever need it.  It also comes with heated grips, a light aluminum frame, hard sidebags, pushbutton adjustable windscreen, and standard anti-lock brakes.  This bike also features an instrument panel complete with speedometer, tachometer, dual tripmeters, gear position indicator, coolant and air temperature gauges, clock, real-time mileage and average mileage.  In addition, the seat can be adjusted up and down by nearly an inch so you can find the most comfortable position.
